STYROFOAM <> POLYSTYRENE

The Real STYROFOAM
STYROFOAM™ was invented in 1941, and was first used the next year in a Coast Guard life raft. Now, it's used exclusively in building insulation, to float docks  and in some molds for floral arrangements. It's sold in 50 countries, and Dow holds the trademark in 95 countries. With very few exceptions, it's colored light blue.

The real STYROFOAM™ has never been used to hold food and beverage containers, which are made out of the less insulative and moisture-resistant expanded polystyrene. And the maker of the real STYROFOAM™, Dow Chemical, would really like everybody to stop using the term.

That white stuff you use in takeaways... polystyrene

5 Things to Know About the Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice Everybody!!!
The Chinese has a tradition where on this day we will eat glutinous rice ball dessert in sweet ginger+pandan syrup. The event marks the longest night in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere

Check out Time's article below on Winter Solstice.

The sun rises behind the Temple of Karnak Temple during the alignment of the winter solstice sunrise to the temple in the southern Egyptian city of Luxor on Dec. 21.
What is it?
The winter solstice occurs at a specific time, not just day. This year, at 12:11 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 21, the sun shone directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, the farthest south the sun reaches, leading to less light and colder temperatures in the north. In the Southern Hemisphere, it was the longest day of the year.
So then what happens?
The sun begins moving northward in the sky each day, slowly leading to more sun north of the equator and ushering in a darker, colder season in the Southern Hemisphere.
Is it related to Christmas?
Sort of. There’s no date in the Bible specifically pointing to Dec. 25 as the birth of Jesus Christ, so some experts believe the Christian church selected the date several centuries later, tying it to the Roman holiday Dies Natalis Solis Invictus, or the Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun. The winter solstice serves a turning point in many cultures, which is why it was tied to the Mayan apocalypse scare that marked the end of the calendar and to some believers, the end of the world.
Just how short is the day?
North America will only see nine hours and 32 minutes of daylight during the solstice, and 14 hours and 28 minutes of nighttime. But the winter solstice doesn’t always happen at the same time. Next year northern dwellers can brace for the solstice at 11:03 p.m. In 2015 it will occur on Dec. 22.
What are other important dates for the sun?
The summer solstice occurs on June 21, the longest day of the year in the north. On March 21 and Sept. 21, Earth’s equator passes the center of the sun, which are known as “equinoxes.” These two dates mark the point at which hours of day and night are nearly equal.

FeaturePoint vs FreeMyApp

Just took a look at the latest reward system for both Feature Point and FreeMyApp.

3000 FeaturePoint points
- USD5 worth of Paypal

6000 FeaturePoint points
- USD10 worth of Paypal/iTunes

3000 FreeMyApp points
- USD10 worth of iTunes credit

So if you want iTunes credit, stick with FreeMyApp. If you want PayPal it doesn't look like there is an option. Will hv to stick with FeaturePoints

Update 4 Dec 2013: Lower value coupons/cashout from FeaturePoint seems to run out earlier and faster. You would need to wait for it to come back before being able to trade your points.

Try FeaturePoints?

My 2 cents:
I discovered this today. FeaturePoints's starting apps list is quite limited. Not as much as FreeMyApps. I'll still give this a test and see since it pays out to Paypal.

Update 14 Oct 2013: It does seem like more apps will appear in the list if you use a US ip address. Anyone experience this ?

Update 17 Oct 2013: For those outside of the US, it works with most free US VPN provider. I've noticed the rewards have changed a little. Amazon's cheapest 600 points for USD1 is no longer there. Most is USD5 for 3000 points. >_<

Update 25 Nov 2013: Current points stand at 4232. Tried to redeem USD5 into my Paypal but the option just happen to be not there. Paypal fund check out option left was USD100 at 60000 points. It kept offering to redeem other apps instead. I will try again tomorrow. Maybe they have a limit per day. Fingers crossed. Else I'm going to have to cross FeaturePoint out. You guys can decide if you want to class it as scam.

Update 4 Dec 2013: I've finally managed to redeemed my 3000 points for USD5 Paypal. Took a few days before that option became available again. During that time, even Amazon's lower valued coupons ran out. Current FP collected stands at 1422. Another 1600 to the next USD5 Paypal.

Update 27 Dec 2013: Not much to download these days..... at 1590 points
